THE QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER OF WALNUT GROVE
Celebrating Life and All Its Gifts
As we begin another school year, WIT would like to share some timely thoughts on study from the Prelate of Opus Dei, Monsignor Fernando Ocáriz. Monsignor Ocáriz is Chancellor of the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross. The following remarks are from his homily at the start of the 2019-2020 academic year at the University.
Echoing these words of St. Josemaría: “An hour of study, for a modern apostle, is an hour of prayer” (The Way, 335), the Prelate discussed the link between prayer and study. He noted, “This is not simply a question of saying a brief prayer before beginning to study. Rather both study and prayer should be fused in our heart…”
Afternoon tea was very proper - and memorable! - at the Walnut Grove Mother, Daughter, and Grandmother’s Tea Party on April 30th. The weather was perfect, the setting idyllic, and the company superb!

Lent is a wonderful tool we can use in our own homes to teach our children the value of doing what you don’t want to do, when you don’t want to do it.
